> From 2021, whenever you apply for a KIIP test, including pre-test –사전평가, mid-term test (level 4) – 중간평가, and comprehensive test (level 5)– 종합평가, you have to pay the application fee of 38,000 won for each time taking test.
>> KIIP test registration starts at 9:00 AM on the day of registration. Make sure that both your computer and phone are prepared for the registration prior to 9:00 AM, as the test slots tend to fill up quickly in just a matter of minutes.
>>> Starting from March 2022, the computer-based test (CBT)* will be operated together with the paper-based test (PBT) for the pre-tests (named as CBT사전평가) and the comprehensive test (named as CBT종합평가귀화용). The CBT is different from the paper-based test (PBT) in both time schedule and location. The PBT test is available in all regions, however the CBT has only 1 test location in Gwangmyeong city (광명시). CBT test is also more flexible in time schedule, around 20 times/month for CBT산전평가 and 2 times/month for CBT종합평가귀화용.

* In order to ensure a balanced opportunity to participate in the level test for certain overseas Koreans (F-4, H-2, C-3-8) and holders of other VISAs, the ratio of available slots is set. On the last day of the application period, if the application is not closed (some slots are still available), applicants can apply regardless of their VISAs.

3.1 Permanent resident test [영주용 종합평가]

4. Policy changes about the completion of KIIP program (level 4 & 5)
From 2020.09.01, the completion standard of the KIIP Level 4 & 5 for persons who retake the KIIP Level 4 & 5 will change as follows:

* Comment: The old completion standard (mostly called AUTOPASS policy) is better for persons taking KIIP level 4. The new completion standard is better for persons taking the KIIP level 5.
* What is the difference between the KIIP level 5 completion certificate (이수증) and comprehensive exam passing certificate (합격증):
For example, when applying for the permanent VISA (F5),

+ Person with the comprehensive exam passing certificate (without taking KIIP class) gets 10 bonus points only.
+ Person with the KIIP level 5 completion certificate only gets 15 bonus points.
+ Person with both the KIIP level 5 completion certificate and comprehensive exam passing certificate also get 15 bonus points.
> In recent policy changes, for naturalization, KIIP certificate is only valid for 3 years after getting the certificate. If more than 3 years gave passed, you need to take exam one more time to improve your knowledge. (reference)
